The formula for trash rack head loss is expressed as follows;

hr = K*sin(¥á)*(t/b)^(4/3)*(V^2/(2g))
 
where,
hr : loss of head through rack
K : a factor depending on bar shape
  (2.42 for rectangular edge)
¥á : angle of bar inclination to horizontal(degree)
t : thickness of bars(mm)
b : clear spacing between bars(mm)
V : velocity of approach(m/s)
g : acceleration due to gravity (9.8m/s^2)
