In physics, potential energy is energy possessed by a body by virtue of its position relative to others, stresses within itself, electric charge, and other factors.
Gravitational energy is the potential energy associated with gravitational force, as work is required to elevate objects against Earth's gravity.
The potential energy (U) of the object relative to its being on the Earth's surface is;

U = m*g*h
m : The mass of the object (kg)
g : The acceleration due to gravity (9.806m/s^2)
h : The altitude of the object (m)
