The inner and outer lateral area of hollow cylinder A1 is:

A1 = 2¥ðr1*h + 2¥ðr2*h = 2¥ðh(r1+r2)
h : height of cylinder
r1 : radius of inner circle
r2 : radius of outer circle

The top and bottom area of hollow cylinder A1 is:

A1 = 2*(¥ðr2^2 - ¥ðr1^2) = 2¥ð(r2^2 - r1^2)

Thus, the surface area of hollow cylinder S can be calculated by follow formula.

S = A1+A2 = 2¥ðh(r1+r2) + 2¥ð(r2^2 - r1^2) = 2¥ð(h(r1+r2)+(r2^2 - r1^2))
