그림과 같이 저항과 축전지가 직렬 연결되어 있는 경우 회로의 임피던스는 다음과 같이 계산한다.

- R : 저항값 (Ω)
- C : 축전지의 임피던스 (Ω)

Z = (R^2 + C^2)^(1/2)

역률 PF = R/Z = R / (R^2 + C^2)^(1/2)
