In 1975, Kell published a new formulation for the density of air-free water at a pressure of 101.325 kPa (1 atmosphere) valid from 0 to 150 ¡ÆC ¡°that is in improved agreement with most data sets.¡± The Kell formulation is

¥ñ = (999.83952+16.945176*t-7.8970401*10^(-3)*t^2-46.170461*10^(-6)*t^3+105.56302*10^(-9)*t^4-280.54253*10^(-12)*t^5)/(1+16.897850*10^(-3)*t)

where t is temperature in ¡ÆC on the 1968 International Practical Temperature Scale (IPTS-68).
