As shown in figure, there are two point charges q1 and q2 of different poles at distance L, with another point charge q3
of an arbitrary pole located at the right side of q2.

The neutral location, where the attractive force or repulsive force between q1 and q3 is identical to that between q2 qnd q3,  is calculated as below.

¡à Attractive or repulsive force between q1 and q3
 F13 = k*q1*q3/x^2
¡à Attractive or repulsive force between q2 and q3
 F23 = k*q2*q3/(x-L)^2

Since F13 = F23,

k*q1*q3/x^2 = k*q2*q3/(x-L)^2

q1/x^2 = q2/(x-L)^2

(x/(x-L))^2 = q1/q2

x/(x-L) = (q1/q2)^(1/2)

x = -L*(q1/q2)^(1/2) / (1-(q1/q2)^(1/2))
