The pH of the completely dissociated Mg(OH)2 solution (W mg / L) can be calculated as follows.

When the molecular weight of Mg(OH)2 is MW, the molar concentration M is as follows.

M = W/(1000*MW) (mol/L)

Since it is dissociated into magnesium 1 and hydroxyl group 2,

Mg(OH)2  Mg2+ + 2OH-

Then, the molar concentration of hydroxyl groups can be determined as follows.

Mg(OH)2 : 2OH- = M : MOH

MOH = 2*M

Thus, pH is:.

pOH = log(1/(2*M))

pH = 14 - pOH = 14 - log(1/(2*M)) = 14 - log(1/(2*W/(1000*MW)))
