Using results of compaction tests, dry density of soil can be obtained as below:

Typical results of compaction tests include:
① weight of mould and wet test material : Wt(g)
② weight of mould : Wm(g)
③ water content of test material : w(％)
④ volume of mould : V(㎤)

Weight of soil Ws is:
Ws = (Wt-Wm) / (1+w/100)

Then the dry density of soil, rd, is :
rd = Ws / V = (Wt-Wm)/((1+w/100)*V)
