Shear stress due to liquid between two parallel plates

Assuming that a liquid of viscosity ¥ì (poise) fully fills the gap, y (m), between two parallel plates and one plate moves at the velocity V (m/s),  the shear stress acting on the other stationary
plate is calculated as below.

1poise = 0.1Pa*s

then,

¥ì poise = 0.1*¥ì Pa*s

Thus, the shear stress is:

¥ó = 0.1*¥ì*dV/dy = 0.1*¥ì*V/y (Pa)
