With the initial velocity (v1), terminal velocity (v2) and travel distance (s) known, the acceleration a is :

v2 = v1 + a*t -> t = (v2-v1)/a
s = v1*t + 1/2 * a * t^2
 = v1*(v2-v1)/a + 1/2 * a * (v2-v1)^2 / a^2
 = v1*(v2-v1)/a + 1/2 * (v2-v1)^2 / a

Arranging the above,

2*a*s = 2*v1*v2-2*v1^2+v2^2+v1^2-2*v1*v2
        = v2^2 - v1^2

Thus,

a = (v2^2-v1^2)/(2*s)

Note,
a  : acceleration (m/s^2), (+) acceleration, (-) deceleration
t  : time taken for travelling (s)
