Discharge through a V-notch (triangular) weir

V-notch weirs are generally of an isosceles triangle and practically the angle of 90¡Æ is in wide use.

The following formula is to estimate the discharge through a V-notch weir shown in the figure. Cd is the discharge coefficient determined by experiments.

There are also other formulas
based on experiments, e.g. those proposed by Gourley-Crimp (1915) and Strickland.
