1 mole hydrogen molecules react with 1 mole of bromine molecule to make 2 moles of Hydrogen bromide molecules.

H2 + Br2 ¡æ 2HBr

When the mass and molecular weight of the hydrogen used in the reaction are MH and WH respectively and the molecular weight of the bromine is WBr, the mass of generated hydrogen bromide , MHB, can be calculated as follows.

MHB = MH2/WH2*2*((1/2)*WH2+(1/2)*WBr2)
