If an object was thrown at a specific angle from the horizontal line and its horizontal travel distance and time to fall onto the ground is defined as dt (s) and L (m) respectively,  then the throwing velocity can be obtained as follows.

Horizontal velocity: Vx = L/dt (m/s)

Since the time to arrive at the peak point is dt/2,

Vertical velocity: Vy = (dt/2) * g (m/s)

Therefore, the throwing velocity is :

V = (Vx^2 + Vy^2)^(1/2) = ( (L/dt)^2 + (dt*g/2)^2 )^(1/2)

V = ( (L/dt)^2 + (dt*g/2)^2 )^(1/2)
