When a certain distance L (m) is travelled at the speed V1 (m/s) for the duration t1 (s) and at V2 (m/s) for t2 (s), the average speed Va (m/s) can be calculated as follows:

Va = L / (t1+t2)

L1 = V1*t1
L2 = V2*t2

L = L1+L2

Va = (V1*t1+V2*t2)/(t1+t2)

Va = (V1*t1+V2*t2)/(t1+t2)
