The minimum value Rmin (¥Ø) of the variable resistance to control the amount of current can be obtained when the use voltage, the maximum allowable current and the resistance of an electric device are V (V), I (A) and R (¥Ø), respectively.

I*R + I*Rmin ¡Â V

Then,

Rmin = (V-I*R)/I
