Width of the emission rays according to width of the rays normal to a rectangular prism

When the ray is incident on the right angle to the front face of a prism having a reflection ratio n, as shown in the figure, the width of the reflected ray w2 can be obtained by the width of incident ray w1 and the edge angle ¥á (¢ª).  

Since n = sin¥á/sin¥â,

¥â= arcsin(sin¥á/n)


Letring the distance between Point A and Point B as AB, then,

w1 = AB*cos¥á ¡æ AB = w1/cos¥á

w2 = AB*cos¥â ¡æ AB = w2/cos¥â

Thus, W2 is :

w2 = w1*cos¥â/cos¥á

w2 = w1*cos(arcsin(sin¥á/n))/cos¥á
