When the average flow velocity at the section where the cross-sectional area is A1 (m^2) is V1 (m/s), the flow velocity V2 (m/s) at the section having the cross-sectional area A2 (m^2) is obtained as follows.

Since the flow rate Q is constant throughout the entire waterway or conduit, the following is established.

Q = A1*V1 = A2*V2

V2 = A1*V1/A2
