Find the area A of a square inscribed in a semicircle of radius R.

Let L be the length of one side of the square, and using the Pythagorean theorem,

R^2 = L^2 + (1/4)L^2

thus,

R^2 = (5/4)L^2

A = L^2 = (4/5)*R^(2)

A = (4/5)*R^(2)
