The power of the hoist motor P (W) for pulling up an object with mass m (kg) at a raising velocity V (m/s) can be obtained as follows.

The height of pulling up an object is V*t (m) during t (s), thus energy E (J) is,

E = mgVt

and since J/s = W,

P = mgV

If the efficiency of the hoist motor is ¥ç (%),

P = mgV/(¥ç/100)

P = 100*m*g*V/¥ç
