When an object of mass m (kg) falls from a height h1 (m), collides with the floor, and bounces back up to a height h2 (m), find the average force Fave (N) received by the object. The time it collides with the floor is t (s).

The speed at which it falls and touches the ground

V1 = sqr(2*g*h1)

Bounce speed

V2 = sqr(2*g*h2)

Since the change in the direction of speed is opposite,

¥ÄV = V1+V2

thus,

Fave = m*¥ÄV/t = m*(sqr(2*g*h1)+sqr(2*g*h2))/t

*** Âü°í¹®Çå[References] ***

Fave = m*(sqr(2*g*h1)+sqr(2*g*h2))/t
