When an object with specific gravity ¥ão is placed in a liquid with specific gravity ¥ãl, the initial acceleration go (m/s^2) of the object is obtained.

Let the density of water be ¥ñ (kg/m^3) and the acceleration due to gravity be g (m/s^2).

If the volume of an object is V (m^3), the mass m = ¥ão*¥ñ*V (kg).

Gravity acting on an object: m*g = ¥ão*¥ñ*V*g

Buoyant force acting on the object: ¥ãl*¥ñ*g*V

Resultant force acting on an object: ¥ão*¥ñ*V*g - ¥ãl*¥ñ*g*V = ¥ñ*g*V*(¥ão-¥ãl)

Therefore, the initial acceleration of the object is:

go = ¥ñ*g*V*(¥ão-¥ãl)/m = g*(¥ão-¥ãl)/¥ão

go = g*(¥ão-¥ãl)/¥ão
