When solute m (g) and solvent are added to solution L1 (liter) with molarity M1 to make L2 (liter), the molarity M2 of the solution is obtained.

The molecular weight of the solute is MW.

Mass of solute in the original solution: m1 (g)

m1 = M1*MW*L1

Mass of solute after addition of solute: m2 (g)

m2 = m1 + m = M1*MW*L1 + m

Number of moles of total solute: mol

mol = m2/MW = (M1*MW*L1+m)/MW

Molar concentration after addition of solute M2

M2 = mol/L2 = (M1*MW*L1+m)/(MW*L2)

M2 = (M1*MW*L1+m)/(MW*L2)
