As shown in the figure, when the bending moment M (N¡¤m) acts on a hollow circular cross section with an outer diameter of D (m) and an inner diameter of d (m), the maximum bending stress ¥òmax (MPa) is obtained as follows.

¥ò = M*y/Ix

Here, y = D/2, Ix = (¥ð/64)(D^4 - d^4),

Therefore,

¥òmax = 32*M*D/(¥ð*(D^4 - d^4)) * 10^(-6)
